The origins of amaretti date back to the Middle Ages, when a young couple in Saronno, Italy, is said to have baked them to honor a visiting cardinal. They had almost nothing in their cupboard, so they combined what they had — sugar, egg whites, and apricot kernels — and created one of the most beloved cookies in Italian history.

We make our amaretti with high-quality almond paste and real egg whites, baked to a golden finish and dusted lightly with powdered sugar. They are naturally gluten-free, which makes them a welcome addition to any cookie table where dietary needs vary.
